Started by Jarred Land from DVXUser.com, Rocketindie is a new option for filmmakers wanting to self-distribute. From the website:

Rocketindie is a new kind of distribution company primarily targeted at independent filmmakers. Rather than selling and distributing the movie for you like a traditional distributor would— it helps you to self-distribute your movie.

It’s designed by filmmakers for filmmakers — we made it because we could not find a solution in the marketplace to satisfy our distribution requirements for our own movie. So we invented one — and now everybody else gets to use it.

There are a lot of costs and hurdles involved in self-distribution. It will be interesting to see how this affects/helps the market. Drop me a line if you’ve used it and have a review.
