Update:
My new opinion can be summed up in one word: “disappointed”. The first two “pre-episodes” were interesting, behind the scenes shows that I found instructive. But once the real show started? Blah. I don’t recommend it any more. Maybe it’s the floozy hostess. Maybe I’m sick of the crude subject matter often portrayed in contestants’ entries (though this week’s offerings were different in that respect). Maybe it’s because the show feels like it’s trying SO hard to be the next American Idol but can’t ever seem to be more than a distant awkward cousin. Whatever the case, I must sadly remove my vote of approval from the show.

Just watched the first episode last night, and was hooked. I think I might actually become a faithful reality show watcher now. Of course, it’s got all the standard fare for these types of productions: sleep deprived contestants, super-high stake competitions, “voted off the island” heartbreakers, and the expert judges that alternately humiliate and encourage.
The competition that last night’s episode ended on involved 3 shooting locations, story direction of “runnning out of time”, and 24 hours to shoot & edit the 2 1/2 minute short as a team of 3. That got my creative juices flowing…though I’m still trying to come up with a story idea I would use if I was a contestant.
Here’s a clip from the show:
And here’s a review of it.
